Chrome Plating is done after Nickle plating on parts. The smooth finish looks great and can be polished to a shine, you also get a significant improvement in hardness for added wear resistance. Hard chrome also increases the corrosion life of parts without significantly affecting the mechanical properties of metal substrate.
